About the Role

We are seeking a responsible and highly organized Designated Driver (DD) & Designated First Aid Attendant (DFA) to support field operations while also fulfilling their primary role as a tree planter. This role is designed to improve operational efficiency, reduce stress on supervisors, and enhance overall health and safety culture within the team. The selected

individual will ensure proper resource management, emergency preparedness, and effective transportation logistics.

The position is a full season position running from April15 - September 30, 2025.

 

Key Responsibilities

Designated Driver (DD) Responsibilities:

● Be prepared and available to drive as required, based on the size of the crew and supervisor discretion.

● Assist the supervisor in daily equipment planning to optimize efficiency.

● Conduct daily vehicle maintenance, including:

○ Cleaning the vehicle interior and removing garbage/projectiles.

○ Managing fluid levels (fuel, washer fluid, etc.).

○ Organizing the truck’s tree box for equipment and supplies.

○ Managing and disposing of project waste properly.

○ Ensuring cache tarps and Crew Blue water are available and refreshed regularly.

○ Completing weekly vehicle inspections every Friday.

○ Reporting vehicle maintenance issues in the designated Slack channel.

● Support the supervisor with loading trees, supplies, and essential equipment for the following day.

● Assist with truck preparation and truck list creation when necessary.

Designated First Aid Attendant (DFA) Responsibilities:

● Be ready and prepared every workday to respond to first aid emergencies.

● Maintain and inspect essential first aid field equipment, including the mini pack, InReach device, and ERP.

● Conduct daily first aid assessments and emergency response planning.

● Ensure all first aid supplies are stocked and in good condition.

● Complete weekly first aid equipment inspections every Friday.

● Act as the primary first aid responder on-site.

● Complete and submit all first aid-related paperwork on the same day of any incidents.

● Report injuries to the Safety Lead on the same day.

● Monitor and report if any field staff are working with injuries that pose a safety risk.

● Conduct follow-up visits and complete necessary documentation within required timelines.

● Maintain clear and open communication with all crew members regarding safety and first aid protocols.

● Keep an active and valid Advanced First Aid Certification (formerly OFA Level 3).

● Conduct emergency response drills with the crew during the season.

Professionalism & Workplace Conduct

● Use respectful and professional language when communicating with supervisors, crew members, and leadership.

● Follow all workplace policies, including the Respectful Workplace Policy and Health & Safety Guidelines.

● Maintain a cooperative and professional attitude when coordinating with supervisors, management and field staff.

● Represent the company professionally when engaging with external parties.

Certifications & Experience:

 

● Must be an active tree planter within the company.

● Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

● Previous experience in vehicle maintenance, logistics, or safety roles is an asset.

● Must either have or acquire before the season start date an Advanced First Aid Certification (formerly OFA Level 3). Funding will be provided to cover the cost of training.

● Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

● Ability to work independently and adapt to operational changes.

● Willingness to take on additional responsibilities beyond tree planting.

● No dogs allowed in this role, ensuring focus on responsibilities and safety.

● Must be willing to maintain a company vehicle all season and leave their personal vehicle at the company compound.
